#22 Double Double
Nothing like a nice morning sleeping in, followed up with a fun day of inshore fishing. It was a day for doubles I guess because we ended up keeping 2 sheephead and 2 yellowtail. We had a lot of fun catching and releasing a bunch of fish!
#21 Back to Cali
Despite a slow day inshore we enjoyed a fun day on the water with family in town. We caught and released a few bass, and brought home a legal white seabass for dinner!
#20 Biters
Nothing beats a 20 minute run to the fishing grounds for some solid yellows. Water temperature was just over 70 degrees, and it was one of those days that just felt “fishy.”
#19 Surface Iron Fun
We got to the fishing grounds a little later than we had hoped, but we had a day of surface iron fun! We caught and released a few different species and came home with dinner.
#18 Little One
We knew the local bite had slowed down, but we thought why not see for ourselves. Conditions were bleak but we found one legal white seabass and had a fun time on the water.
#16 & #17 WSB Week
White seabass on four trips in a row is pretty special. Word has been out on this hot bite for a while and it’s been really fun fishing. See you out there!
#15 White Hot
Spent Sunday chasing a white hot bite. After too many casts to count we found a few fish that wanted to play! Ended the day with some chrome to take home.
#14 “One More Cast”
It was a quick afternoon trip on the first day of summer break, and we caught and released a variety of fish. We ended the evening with one keeper. Sometimes sticking it out for “one more cast” is worth it!
#13 Unlucky
We entered the Blackman Memorial Halibut Derby but it was a day of catch & release for us. It sounded like most had a tough day of fishing. Congratulations to the anglers who weighed in & thank you to The Marlin Club for a great evening!
#11 Happy Hour
Happy Hour with a side of yellowtail. Double hook up on our favorite local fish was the perfect way to kick off Mothers Day weekend!
#10 First Look
With inshore conditions less than ideal we pushed offshore for our first look of the season. Unfortunately we never found the fish after heading 50 miles south and putting in a lot of miles on the troll. The bluefin seem to be a little further than we hoped.
#9 Showtime
We were busy getting ready for our first Day at The Docks event, but couldn’t resist the urge to go fish inshore Saturday before the set up window. We caught and released a mixed bag of fish. There was some surface action but not from the fish we were hoping for. Thank you to those who made it to the show on Sunday and support our fishing brand!
#8 Busy Bite
We had a small window of opportunity in our schedule, and when fishing is good you have to get out there. Friday we lost a lure to a shark, and on Saturday we managed to find a nice yellowtail before lunchtime. The word has been out for a while, so watch out for the crowds…
#7 Persistence
We checked Point Loma for yellowtail first on Saturday as we had seen good signs of fish a few days prior. We ended up fishing La Jolla in the afternoon and found a small window of opportunity. Read the full report to see how fishing was for us Beside The Point.
#6 Breezy Biters
Today was a windy day, but we managed to find a few breezy biters. Rockfish is now open in US waters. Read our full report to see how it was today fishing for rockfish off of Point Loma.
#5 Missed Target
Today we missed our target, but we had a nice mixed bag. Bass beside the point, mako shark on the troll, can’t complain… ‘til next time.
#3 Lucky One
When the fog cleared in La Jolla, a lucky yellowtail found itself on our boat. The conditions were different than they were earlier in the week. Read our report to see the latest update from Beside The Point.
#2 For Those Who Serve
La Jolla gifted my buddy with 3 new personal best fish! Epic day of inshore fishing for yellowtail and white seabass. Another day of San Diego showing off. Read for more details on local conditions.
