#18 Little One
Wednesday 6/10/26
We heard local conditions were not the best, but it was a Wednesday and we thought why not take a look for ourselves. The white seabass bite was pretty fun the previous week, but we went out with low expectations. Maybe we would find some yellowtail who wanted to play. Either way you can’t catch them from the couch. We slept in and launched the boat around 10 am. Water temperature was around 68. No visible signs of fish or very many birds around. We had a big swell that came in from storms down south, and it seems the swell broke some kelp off which made the water a bit too dirty to troll. We tried fishing the bottom for some Halibut but only found calicos. We released those and moved to a new zone to soak some baits for seabass or yellowtail. While soaking baits, my brother hooked a fish on his first cast out. It pulled a little line, but we thought it was another calico. Turned out to be a legal white seabass! We were stoked! We tried for more, but fishing was slow. We moved to deeper water to troll for a yellowtail, but only found a Mako. We released the shark and called it a day.
