#20 Biters
Monday 6/15/26
It is so fun when the fish in your backyard want to play. Nothing beats a 20 minute run to the fishing grounds for some solid yellows. Water temperature was just over 70 degrees, and it was one of those days that just felt “fishy.” We got to La Jolla early around 6 am. We kicked the trollers out and pretty quickly got some bass. We threw those back and kept looking. Then we got the bite we were looking for. Hook up! On our way to a spot of birds we found a nice yellowtail. We were happy to find the zone early. We stayed where we had just hooked up for a little bit and it quickly turned into a fun stop on the surface irons where we caught and released a bunch of barracuda. They were fun, but we were looking for more yellows. Pretty quickly after we left that zone we got a nice hook up on the troll. We threw some bait out to get the fish going, and they did boil on our chum. We casted at it, but they sank out quickly. We picked off a few more fish throughout the morning. We saw a lot of fish under birds, and it was a fun day of throwing the iron. Some of our favorite fish are the ones on the surface irons. With a bunch of yellows on ice we called it a day around 2 pm.
