#8 Busy bite

Friday 4/10/26 & Saturday 4/11/26

We decided to try for a sunset bite after work on Friday. Boat was loaded up and ready to go so we were launched and on our way to La Jolla by 4:00 pm. We knew it was a small window of opportunity… but it’s been good. Water temp was around 68 degrees! We worked around our usual zones, trying our best to stay out of the mess of boats (we counted over 50 on a Friday evening!). Our efforts resulted in a quick shark bite, breaking off our new Rapala. This lure takes the record for shortest run, as it spent maybe 2 hours in the water.

The next day we wanted to get after it again, so we woke up early to get some time in on the water before our afternoon land plans. We managed to find a nice yellowtail before lunchtime and we called it a day. It was the calm window before the wind and rain that was forecast for Sunday, so we were happy to execute and put some meat on the table. The word has been out for a bit, so it’s been pretty crowded in La Jolla. We are looking forward to the warm water temps and seeing what it will bring to our offshore scene.
